What inspired you to write about this topic? Wartime Investing describes how the American stock market reacts when faced with the onset of war and it provides specific research that offers glimpses of what to expect from America’s next major conflict. So it’s reasonable that my inspiration came from a war-like experience. I was a Financial Advisor working in the Financial District inside the Houston Galleria during the 9/11 attacks in New York City. It seemed that the quick market downturn following the terrorist attack made sense to all my clients and peers in the days following, but everyone seemed so amazed when, just about a month later, a decisive uptick occurred even though the nation was still very much in the grieving process. It struck me as an anomaly and I couldn’t help but wonder if there were other similar anomalies that, if taken as a whole, might present a pattern.
